A horror week for embattled Australian National Basketball League club the Cairns Taipans has only got worse after young foward Dwayne Vale was arrested for drink driving.
Last week the Taipan players agreed to take a 45 per cent pay cut to ensure the clubs survival and Vale was arrested later that night after drowning his sorrows over the Taipans financial plight.
The 23 year-old slept in his car after having a few drinks but passing police saw the keys were in the ignition and breath tested Vale, charging him with being in control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
