Tasman cleared to play in rugby's Air New Zealand cup competition

Tasman have been given the all clear to compete in the top tier Air New Zealand rugby competition next year.

They needed to raise $300,000 to underwrite their debt and meet the financial demands placed on them by the New Zealand rugby union and the NZRU's Brent Anderson says they've been told today that requirement has been met.

Anderson says on the basis of that undertaking Tasman have been cleared to play in the competition next year.

Assistant coach Bevan Cadwallader says the decision has come as a huge relief for the players.
