The South African golfer Richard Sterne has ended his year on a great high by winning his second successive tournament on home soil, edging out Northern Ireland's Gareth Maybin in a playoff to win the South Africa Open.
Sterne had won last week's Dunhill Championship, and he and Maybin finished one stroke ahead of Ernie Els, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.......
The final event on the Asian tour, the Volvo Masters in Bangkok, produced a first time winner,
Singaporean Lam Chih Bing.
New Zealand's Mark Brown had four solid rounds finishing in a tie for 14th.
