Liverpool hang on for draw against 10-man Arsenal

The leaders Liverpool stay eight points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League title race after they draw 1-1 in London after an outstanding match in which saw the Gunners reduced to 10 men after 62 minutes .

Emmanuel Adebayor was sent off for a second yellow card after raising an elbow to the Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa.

But Liverpool couldn't take advantage with the extra man as Arsenal continued to press forward looking for the winner.

Robin van Persie scored for Arsenal in the 24th minute and Robbie Keane equalised with an equally fine drive three minutes before halftime.

Liverpool top the table with 39 points, two ahead of Chelsea who have a game in hand and are three clear of Aston Villa.

Manchester United are fourth with 32 and Arsenal remain fifth with 31.

In today's other games there were 2-1 wins for Newcastle United over Tottenham and West Bromwich over Manchester City.

Newcastle move up to 12th but West Brom remain bottom while Manchester City slip into the relegation zone.
