Saints beat Lions to put Detroit on brink of winless season

The New Orleans Saints 42-7 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFL is a further blow to the Motor City's battered pride.

The winless Lions become the first team to lose 15 games in a season leaving Detroit on the brink of claiming an unwanted place in the NFL record book.

A loss to the Green Bay Packers next Monday in their season finale would make the Lions the only team to finish the season with 16 losses, replacing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who lost all 14 games in 1976.
