The economic downturn is continuing to take a toll on New Zealand Rugby as long-term sponsor Ford looks to downsize its commitment to the sport.

New Zealand Rugby Union Paul Dalton has confirmed a new one-year contract means All Blacks and Super 14 players will be guaranteed a vehicle only until the end next year

However, Dalton saysthe world financial crisis is affecting everyone and the NZRU is thrilled the contract has been extended.

A decision on whether Ford will continue their 15 year arrangement will be made at the end of next year,
