The National Surfing Championships will be staged at Piha Beach near Auckland next month 35 years after it was first staged there.
The current Open Men's Champion Jay Quinn of Gisborne says he will return to New Zealand to defend the title he won in January this year when he also took the longboard title.
Quinn was runner up to his older brother Maz when the National Champs were last held at Piha in 2004.
Gisborne's Bobby Hansen is the top seed though and Angie Koops will be back to defend her title in the Open Women's Division.
