Ten-man Chelsea have missed the chance go top of the English Premier League after being held to a nil-all draw at Everton in a match which saw Chelsea skipper John Terry sent off.

The result means Chelsea move to within a point of leaders Liverpool and ended a run of 11 straight away league wins.

Chelsea played almost an hour of the match a man down after England skipper Terry received a red card from referee for a late and dangerous tackle.

Everton thought they had snatched the three points five minutes from time when Steven Pienaar bundled the ball over the line, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
