Black Caps finally dismiss Gayle

3:33 pm on 23 December 2008

The West Indies captain Chris Gayle has fallen three runs short of a double century, bizarely dismissed for 197 in the second cricket test against New Zealand in Napier.

The tourists have just been dismissed for 375, setting New Zealand a target of 312 to win the test and the series.

Gayle's dismissal came when he turned a ball from spinner Jeetan Patel down the legside only to see it ricochet off the boot of wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum and loop into his gloves.

Jeetan Patel has been the pick of the New Zealand bowlers picking up his first five wicket haul in a test.
