World youth champion shot putter New Zealander Jackson Gill has qualified for Sunday's final at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

A monsoon-like storm brought a premature end to the qualifying competition on the fourth day of competition, with Gill in second place with a best throw of 21.73 metres.

North Shore swimmer Chloe Francis finished sixth in the final of the 200 metre freestyle.

The 16-year-old was fifth in the final of the 200m individual medley and the semi-finals in the 100m breaststroke.

Cambridge rider Jake Lambert was possibly the best of the New Zealander athletes on day four, guiding his horse with confidence in the first round of show jumping to help his Australasia team into a share of first place.
