Swimmers working towards Commonwealth Games

With Michael Phelps and his American swimming team-mates vowing to reassert their dominance over Australia at the Pan Pacific Championships, New Zealand's small team won't attract a lot of attention in southern California.

The five day meet gets underway today with swimmers reverting to normal suits instead of the expensive, skintight, buoyancy enhancing outfits banned at the start of the year.

The 10 strong New Zealand team is using the meet as part of its Commonwealth Games preparations and head coach Mark Regan says e's seen some good things in the pool.

And he says he's not worried about comparisons with the swimming superpowers.
