The New Zealand netball coach Ruth Aitken says she's happy with how the team adjusted to the physical style of the Jamaican's in last night's 58-35 victory over the Sunshine girls in Christchurch but concedes the Silver Ferns should have won by more.

The Fern's outclassed the understrength tourists in most facets of play during the first clash of their two match series, but were forced into multiple turnovers by the aggressive Jamaican defence.

Aitken says it was a solid performance in just the second match of the Fern's preparation ahead of October's Commonwealth Games but says she'll be asking for improvement in the final game of the series in Napier on Saturday.
