Silver Ferns flustered by Jamaicans despite big win

10:15 am on 19 August 2010

The New Zealand netball coach Ruth Aitken says she wants the Silver Ferns to play with more confidence despite trouncing an under-strength Jamaica 58-35 in the first game of a two match series against the Sunshine girls.

The Ferns dominated most areas of the encounter but were at times rattled by the Jamaicans aggressive play, missing several easy shots and giving away multiple turnovers.

Aitken says the if the Ferns want to claim Commonwealth Games gold in October, they must believe they're the best in the world.

The final match of the Jamaica series is in Napier on Saturday.
