Gold Coast football officials say they expect their star New Zealand striker Shane Smeltz to have completed a transfer deal with the Turkish club Genclerbirligi within the next 48 hours.
The All Whites striker has been looking for a new club since he walked out on a potential deal with the Chinese Super Leage team Shandong Luneng a few weeks ago.
Cashed up Gold Coast, owned by billionaire Clive Palmer, says Smeltz's departure is a big loss, but coach Miron Bleiberg says he'll just have to go to the shop and buy another Golden Boot.
Smeltz has been the A-league's leading scorer in the past two seasons, and Gold Coast officials have wished him well.
