Waikato too strong for Chiefs neighbours

6:49 am on 29 August 2010

Waikato proved too strong for Chiefs neighbours Counties-Manukau in their national provincial rugby clash in Hamilton with the Mooloos taking maximum points from the 39-3 victory.

Waikato staged a second half scoring spree dotting down for four tries as they blew Counties off the park with a whirlwind of running rugby in sunny conditions.

The win moves Waikato to seventh on the points table while Counties could drop out of the top four if Wellington and either Auckland or Canterbury win tonight.
