Formula One's world title contender, Australian Mark Webber is leading a fund-raising effort to help the New Zealand driver Chris Van der Drift recover from an horrific crash at Brands Hatch last month.

Webber will join young racers at a karting endurance event in Milton Keynes next week.

24 year old Van der Drift suffered multiple fractures when his Superleague Formula car was launched into the air at 252kph, hitting an overhead bridge and bursting into flames.

He needs money for specialist treatment now, and he says the support he's received from within the industry has been humbling.
