The National Rugby League has referred investigations into betting activity surrounding the Round 24 match between the Bulldogs and the Cowboys to the New South Wales police.

The NRL and betting agencies have been reviewingd an unusually large number of bets placed on the first point-scoring option in the match since the TAB announced that 95 per cent of bets on the match two weeks ago were for a penalty goal being the first scoring play.

The NRL says the focus of its investigation remains the extent of betting activity and any irregularities it may present.

Although at this stage the NRL has made no accusations against any individuals

its Chief Executive David Gallop says it's in everyone's interests for the Police to be involved
