Murray through to next round in New York

Fourth seed Andy Murray's had a straightforward victory at the US Open tennis tournament in New York, going through to the third round in straight sets over the Jamaican Dustin Brown, 7-5 6-3 6-0.

Rain suspended play during the Scot's match, as Hurricane Earl moved south-west of the area and brought drizzle and brisk winds to Arthur Ashe Stadium and the surrounding tennis courts.

Auckland champion John Isner's also through, beating the Swiss Marco Chiudinelli in four sets.

Defending champion Kim Clijsters of Belgium eased through to the fourth round with a 6-3 6-0 defeat of the Czech Petra Kvitova, and there were also straight sets victories for Australian fifth seed Samantha Stosur, sixth seed Francesca Schiavone of Italy, Russian 12th seed Elena Dementieva and Serbia's Ana Ivanovic.
