The New Zealand women's hockey team snared their first points at the World Cup in Argentina, fighting back to draw 2-2 with Japan.
While showing character to recover from a 2-0 deficit early in the second half with two goals in the space of one minute, the Black Sticks were left to rue their inability to convert from the set piece.
Coming off losses to Germany and the Netherlands, New Zealand dominated most of the match but were unable to find the net for the winning goal.
The Black Sticks' next pool match is against Australia on Monday morning.
