The US Ryder Cup golf captain Corey Pavin has named Tiger Woods and 21 year rookie Rickie Fowler among his four wildcards in the 12-man team to play Europe next month in Wales.
Woods didn't earn automatic qualification but his selection was widely expected compared with Fowler, a PGA tour rookie.
Distinctive on the U.S. tour with his long hair and colourful clothing, Fowler has twice been a runner-up this year, and he becomes the second youngest player to compete in the competition behind Horton Smith in 1929.
The other two captain's picks were predictable - last year's British Open champion Cink, a veteran of the last four Ryder Cups, and 2007 Masters winner Zach Johnson.
The Cup holders take on Colin Montgomerie's European team in the three-day match at the Celtic Manor resort starting on the 1st of October.
