Top-ranked Argentina were fully extended by neighbours Brazil before making the quarter-finals at the world mens basketball championships in Turkey.
They went point for point for much of the final quarter before Argentina got there 93-89.
The world number one's quarter-final opponents will be in-form Lithuania who survived a late rally by China to win 78-67.
