Hartley to race in GP2

8:13 am on 9 September 2010

The New Zealand motor racing driver Brendon Hartley has signed to race the last 2 rounds of the GP2 series.

Hartley will race for Coloni Motorsport in this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza and the final round in Abu Dhabi in November.

The 20-year-old hasn't raced since the Renault World Series round in Hungary in early July.

Hartley says he's been preparing himself for this opportunity since his release from the Red Bull Junior team and he's ready to fight for his future.

He says there are a number of potential opportunities for him so he'll be pushing hard to show well this weekend and he's determined to prove that he's ready to progress towards his goal of racing in Formula 1.
