Sonny Bill Williams will make his first start for Canterbury after being named at second five for their provincial rugby clash with Northland in Whangarei on Saturday.
Williams comes in for the injured Ryan Crotty in one of six changes to the Canterbury starting lineup.
Hooker Steve Fualau, prop Peter Borlase and lock Luke Romano replace All Blacks Corey Flynn, Owen Franks and Sam Whitelock.
Winger Patrick Osborne replaces the injured Tu Umaga-Marshall and number eight Ash Parker comes in for the injured Nasi Manu.
Canterbury are top of the NPC standings.
