Vettori says life bans a must if players found guilty of match-fixing

The New Zealand Cricket captain Daniel Vettori says, if found guilty, the Pakistan players under investigation for match-fixing must be banned from the game for life.

Several Pakistan players are embroiled in a betting scandal being investigated by Police, after a British newspaper allegedly caught the players in an undercover sting.

Vettori says if the allegations are true the players must receive the harshest of punishments but says he doesn't believe the scandal will destroy Pakistan cricket.

Meanwhile the New Zealand Cricket awards take place in Auckland tonight, with Vettori expected to pick up the Cricketer of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
