The world number two Roger Federer has eased into the US Tennis Open semi-finals after brushing aside fellow Swiss Robin Soderling 6-4 6-4 7-5.
Federer looked to be cruising taking the first two sets in rapid succession before Soderling broke twice in the third to serve for the set at 5-3
However the second seed Federer broke back three times before taking the set 7-5.
Strong winds made conditions difficult at Flushing Meadows in New York but Federer says he wasn't fazed by the swirling breeze.
