The All Blacks flanker Adam Thomson has re-signed with the Highlanders for next year's Super rugby season, having previously indicated a move to the Crusaders was in the pipeline.

With 17 test caps, Thomson first played for the Highlanders six years ago but has been on the outer this season with the All Blacks, not playing in the tri-nations and Bledisloe Cup competitions.

He was considering a move to the Crusaders in an effort to regain his All Blacks jersey but has now decided to stay with the Highlanders.

Thomson says it was one of the most significant decisions of his career andhe's been impressed with the plan new Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph has to rebuild the franchise.
