Bennett gets Black Caps call-up, and Ryder is back

The Canterbury fast bowler, Hamish Bennett, is the newest name in the New Zealand cricket team to travel to Bangladesh next month, while batsman Jesse Ryder will make his return from injury.

The Black Caps coach, Mark Greatbatch, says 23-year-old Bennett earned his place in the national squad after multiple successes at the domestic level, and a solid tour for the A squad.

The Canterbury batsman, Shanan Stewart, has been recalled to the squad, as has all-rounder Aaron Redmond, and senior players Daniel Vettori and Nathan McCullum have also returned to the squad after being unavailable for the tri-series with Sri-Lanka and India.

The batsman Martin Guptil has been dropped to the New Zealand A-side after some average performances with the bat.

Greatbatch says it will give Guptil the chance to work on his batting form on the A team's tour to Zimbabwe.

The Black Caps:

Daniel Vettori (Captain), Hamish Bennett, Grant Elliot, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Andy McKay, Kyle Mills, Jesse Ryder, Aaron Redmond, Tim Southee, Shanan Stewart, Ross Taylor, Daryl Tuffey, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson
