One surprise in Bangladesh cricket team to meet NZ

6:23 am on 14 September 2010

The opening batsman Shahriar Nafees is the only surprise inclusion in Bangladesh's 14-member cricket squad for the five-match home ODI series against New Zealand.

Left-arm spinner Suhrawadi Shuvo who made his debut in March, before being ignored for the tour to England, also earned a recall to the side.

Tamim Iqbal, who is recovering from surgery on his left wrist, was left out for the series.

There was no place for Mohammad Ashraful, who has been in and out of the side following a prolonged run of poor form.

Tamim's absence gives Nafees, who played the last of his 60 ODIs in June 2008, another chance to stake a claim at the top of the order.

He has scored 1857 runs in the format, including four centuries and ten half-centuries, at an average of 33.78.

The five ODIs will be hosted in Mirpur from October 5th to 17th.
