Raikkonen keen to return to formula one

The former world motor racing champion Kimi Raikkonen is apparently in the frame for a return to formula one.

The 2007 world drivers champion has spent the last year in the world rally championship after being replaced by Fernando Alonso at Ferrari, and he said only last month he would probably never return to formula one.

But Renault's boss Eric Bouiller says Raikkonen's been among a number of drivers to have approached him as Renault haven't yet announced their second driver for next year.

Meanwhile Germany's Nick Heidfeld will replace the Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa and return to Sauber for the remaining five races of this season.
