Wales set to send team to Commonwealth Games

The Wales chef de mission Chris Jenkins is set to clear the way for his team to compete at next month's Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Jenkins has met up with officials from England and New Zealand to assess the venues, infrastructure and security ahead of the games which open in just over two weeks.

Jenkins has the authority to withdraw Wales from the games, but he says to say he's pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.

Jenkins says the caterers are the same ones used in the Melbourne Games in 2006 and he's been reassured about the quality of the food in the athletes' village.

He says he's initially happy with the security arrangements, but will have a better idea once officials do a security lockdown of the athletes' village on the weekend.

New Zealand officials said earlier this week they'd wait to see first hand the setup in Delhi before confirming their team's participation.
