Shuja, Knight beaten in opening round in England

The New Zealand squash player Kashif Shuja has fallen just short of a major upset in the opening round of the British Grand Prix tournament in Manchester.

Shuja, who had to qualify for the main draw came back from two games down to push the 11th seeded Australian Stewart Boswell to five.

However, Shuja couldn't maintain his magnificent fightback in the decider, eventually going down 11-7, 11-2, 7-11, 11-13, 11-3.

Fellow New Zealander Martin Knight has also bowed out of the PSA World Tour event, beaten 3-nil by fourth seeded Frenchman Gregory Gaultier.

Campbell Grayson will play his opening round match against 15th seeded Egyptian Mohd Ali Anwar Reda tomorrow morning.
