Doping tests will soon be able to detect latest blood booster

Doping tests should soon be able to detect the latest form of the banned blood-boosting drug EPO, known as hematide.

Michel Rieu, a scientific advisor to the French Anti-Doping Agency says he believes hematide is being widely used, but the Swiss and French laboratories developing the drug would need to make the molecule available to the World Anti-Doping Agency so that they can develop a testing method.

Rieu believes that could happen by the end of this year.
