Athletes village still not ready to house New Zealanders in Delhi

A week before New Zealand athletes are due to move into the Commonwealth Games village their accommodation is still not ready.

Team chef de mission Dave Currie who arrived in Delhi earlier this week, is working with organisers to ensure the rooms for the New Zealanders are ready by tomorrow week, when the first athletes are due to arrive.

Currie says while construction is complete the final touches are yet to be put on Tower 32 which will house the New Zealand team.

He says the post-construction cleanup also hasn't been done satisfactorily.

Currie says the athletes recreational and training areas are very good as is the dining hall.

The late monsoon season is also still causing problems with pools of water still around many venues.
