Tall Blacks drop in world basketball rankings

The New Zealand men's basketball team has dropped 5 places to 18 in the latest FIBA world rankings.

The world governing body has changed their ranking system and following New Zealand's round of 16 loss at this month's World Championships in Turkey, the Tall Blacks have dropped.

The United States top the rankings from Spain, Argentina and Greece.

Turkey, who were beaten in the world championship final by the United States, move up 12 places to 6th.

The United States top the women's rankings from Russia and Australia heading into their world championships next week.

The New Zealand womens team is ranked 15th.
