France into Davis Cup final

9:29 am on 19 September 2010

The France Davis Cup doubles team has secured their country's place in the Davis Cup final, after Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement defeated Argentina's Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zeballos 6-4 7-5 6-3.

The pair, who won the 2007 Wimbledon title together, were strong from the outset, though became over-confident and let their opponents back into the match in the second set.

But the home crowd lifted Llodra and Clement, and the pair ended up winning the final set comfortably.

The win makes it 3-nil for France, after Llodra defeated Juan Monaco 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-3 in the first singles match, and Gael Monfils beat David Nalbandian 6-4 2-6 6-4 6-3 in the second.

Monfils will play Monaco and Llodra will take on Nalbandian in the reverse singles tomorrow, but whatever the outcomes, France will face either Serbia away or the Czech Republic at home in the December final.
