Weather forces cancellation of Invercargill motor race meeting

10:49 am on 19 September 2010

A second night of snow and sleet has forced organisers to cancel the motor racing meet at Teretonga Park in Invercargill.

The opening round of the South Island Endurance Series was set to take place on Saturday, and several other classes were due to open their season with a series of races today.

The endurance race was called off after a heavy overnight snowfall on Friday night, but with no improvement in the weather since then, organisers have decided to postpone all of the weekend's races.

No decision has been made yet about rescheduling the meet.
