Vincenzo Nibali became the first Italian to win the Tour of Spain in two decades with the most important victory of his career.
The 25-year-old maintained his 41-second lead over his closest rival, Spain's Ezequiel Mosquera, by finishing the 85-kilometre final stage in the leading group, on the same time as stage winner Tyler Farrar of the United States.
Nibali, who rides for the Liquigas-Doimo team, became the first Italian to win the race since Marco Giovannetti in 1990.
Mosquera finished second with Slovakian Peter Velits in third.
