FA charges Wenger with improper conduct

The Football Association has charged Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger with improper conduct following the Premier League match at Sunderland.

After Darren Bent scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time on Sunday to snatch a a 1-1 draw for the home side Wenger remonstrated with match officials, furious over the time referee Phil Dowd added.

The FA says Wenger had been charged with using insulting and/or abusive language and behaviour amounting to improper conduct.

Under the FA's new fast-track procedures he has until Friday to respond.
