A last-minute strike by substitute John Curtis has handed Gold Coast United a valuable 1-nil victory over the embattled Newcastle Jets in their A-League football clash at Skilled Park.
The triumph lifts Gold Coast into fifth spot from six games, albeit in front of another disappointing crowd of 2,901 - only 54 more than their record low set last weekend.
Newcastle, also struggling with its home attendances this campaign, was handed a boost before kick-off with local businessman Nathan Tinkler handed the club's license by Football Federation Australia.
The Jets remain 10th in the standings.
