Ferrari's Fernando Alonso has won his second Formula One grand prix in a row to close to within 11 points of championship leader Mark Webber after winning an incident-packed Singapore Grand Prix.
Alonso held off the hard-charging German Sebastian Vettel and his Australian Red Bull team-mate Webber to take the chequered flag and boost his chances of a third Formula One crown.
Webber again rode his luck, emerging unscathed from a collision with the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, who had to retire and the former world champion drops to third in the standings with just four races remaining.
Hamilton's defending champion team-mate and compatriot Jenson Button was fourth.
The Spaniard Alonso was delighted with the win after his victory in Monza two weeks ago.
Webber leads the championship on 202 points and actually increased his lead from five to 11 points in the standings with four races remaining. Alonso is second on 191 and Hamilton lies a further nine points adrift in third place.
A mere 25 points, the number awarded for a victory, separates the top five.
