Parry wins Vivendi Cup

The British golfer John Parry won his first European Tour title by landing the Vivendi Cup as Padraig Harrington served notice that he has hit form again ahead of the Ryder Cup.

The Irishman closed with a final round 64 while the 23-year-old Parry carded a final round 70 to win by two shots from Sweden's Johan Edfors, who closed with a 71.

Harrington, who just made the halfway cut, followed up a third round 69 to finish joint eighth after firing seven birdies and an eagle in the final round.

Parry arrived in the outskirts of Paris lying 116th in the Race to Dubai money list and worried about retaining his playing card for 2011.

He also faltered after leading at the halfway mark in the Austrian Open a week earlier.

But with the $NZ377,000 winners cheque he has an exemption for next year proved that he handle the pressure at the top of the leaderboard.
