The athletes have been arriving in big numbers for the Commowealth Games but many thousands of tickets remain unsold just days before they begin.
About two million tickets were put on sale but rumours have long circulated in New Delhi that the response had been slow because of delays in finalising the sales network.
Tickets in all categories were available for most sports during the October 3-14 sporting showpiece, with places still on sale even for the opening and closing ceremonies, the 100-metres track finals, and finals sessions at the swimming.
The Games press office says about 1,800 athletes and officials are expected to have arrived by Thursday.
