The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt has withdrawn his allegations that the England team had engaged in match-fixing during the third one-day international at the Oval earlier this month.

The England and Wales Cricket Board had demanded an apology from Butt who said in a statement that he wished to withdraw the comments made in a television interview.

He says he never intended to question the behaviour and integrity of the England players nor the ECB nor to suggest that any of them were involved in any corrupt practices or in a conspiracy against Pakistan cricket.
