United manager maintains his side deserved win

The Manchester United football club top group C of the Champions League after Mexican striker Javier Hernandez came off the bench to score the winner in their 1-nil victory at Spanish side Valencia.

United sit first equal with Rangers on four points after the Scottish side beat Turkish club Bursaspor 1-nil.

Although Valencia had the lion's share of possession the United manager Sir Alex Ferguson disputed the assertion his side didn't deserve to win.

Tottenham Hotspur scored their first Champions League win, beating Dutch side FC Twente 4-1 with only 10 men at White Hart Lane.

Spurs and Inter Milan now lead group A with four points each after the defending champion Italians beat Werder Bremen 4-nil.
