12:27 pm on 4 October 2010

Swimming New Zealand's high performance manager Jan Cameron isn't expecting great things from Moss Burmester who headlines the start of competition at the Delhi Commonwealth Games today.

Burmester will defend his 200 metre butterfly title at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming complex.

However the 29-year-old Burmester is entering the twilight of his career and Cameron says victory today may be asking too much.

There are eight swimmers in action today with New Zealand athletes also competing in Tennis, Table Tennis, Squash, Lawn Bowls, Gymnastics, Badminton and Archery, while the womens Hockey team play Wales and the Silver Ferns play Papua New Guinea.
