Silver Ferns in action tonight against PNG

5:44 pm on 4 October 2010

The New Zealand netballers start defending their Commonwealth Games title in Delhi tonight with what should be little more than a training run against Papua New Guinea.

The Silver Ferns are expected to meet Australia again in the final, although England look tough too.

But the Ferns coach, Ruith Aitken, says matches against less challenging opponents are useful, because every opportunity they get to play together as a team is invaluable.

Aitken says they'll be looking at achieving individual goals during the match, and developing different aspects of their game plan.

But she says you can never take any team lightly, because the unexpected can happen.

Tha game against PNg starts at 7pm.
