Despite winning India's first gold medal in the Delhi Commonwealth Games marksmen Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang will have to jostle for today's headlines with cricketer Sangipurappu Laxman.
While the 10 metre air rifle pair were shooting down the gold , Laxman was leading India to a thrilling one-wicket test victory over Australia 265 kilometres away in Mohali.
The clash was avoidable but Indian cricket bosses rejected the worried Games organisers' request to reschedule the two-test series.
The Olympic champion Bindra hopes the Games will dominate coverage and cricket, for once, will take a back seat.
But with disappointing turnouts at the Games venues so far former test cricket Maninder Singh says the scheduling of the test series doesn't matter.
Singh says he's not sure how many people would go to the stadium between tests and cricket will rule the roost.
