Issues with Delhi main stadium ahead of athletics programme

11:31 am on 6 October 2010

There are concerns about the state of the main stadium at the Delhi Commonwealth Games ahead of the start of the Athletics programme tonight.

Work was still going on on the running track today, while a large part of the infield has had to be replaced following the opening ceremony on Monday morning.

Athletes were seen dodging tractors during a training session.

The BBC is reporting that athletics officials had asked for a 24 hour delay to the start of the programme, but that was rejected.

New Zealander Adrian Blincoe will compete in the 5000 metre final tonight.
