Not much for Murphy to work with

The veteran New New Zealand V8 Supercar driver Greg Murphy still holds the Bathurst 1000 lap record but he'll be going into Sunday's endurance race without much else to hold onto this season.

The Holden driver's in an unaccustomed 25th and says this year's been a disaster as he's struggled to come to grips with his Triple Eight car.

Murphy says he and his team have made some mistakes but the biggest problem's been getting on top of the way the chassis needs to be run.

He says he loves Bathurst and he's just looking for some more speed before the race.

Murphy's record of two minutes 6.8594 seconds was set in the 2003 Top Ten shootout.

There's more practice on Friday before qualifying with the shootout on Saturday.
