The holder of the women's 800-metre freestyle world record, Rebecca Adlington, has returned to form with a gold medal for England at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

It's the 21-year-old's first major victory in the discipline since winning the Olympic title in Beijing two years ago.

Adlington says it's nice to finish off such a long season with a gold medal.

She says she just focused on keeping her strokes nice and smooth, and did not think about the time, just the racing.

Adlington's only other major achievement of the year was the 400-metres gold she won at the European Championships in August.
